Coach Nancy Information:

Hi,

I love being a Life Coach, specializing in coaching people with disabilities and health conditions. Living with my health challenges has taught me some creative coping skills which I enjoy sharing. I teach, speak, coach, and write about living well with Chronic Conditions and Disabilities.  I also serve as an advocate for myself and our community.

For three years I was fortunate to be the primary caregiver for my beloved Great Aunt Bea. She taught me about grace under pressure and joyful giving.

I believe I don’t always get to choose what life hands me, but I have many choices about how I respond to life. One of my favorite quotes:

When we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life,
or in the life of another.  - Helen Keller

I have written for Access Press, Disaboom, Stress Free Living, With-TV, www.tcdailyplanet.net, the Minnesota Coaches Association Catalyst, and my weblog: hopeability.wordpress.com. I’m publishing my first book in 2010: Hope-Ability: Living Well with Chronic Conditions and Disabilities. I enjoy including pictures with my writing.

One of my passions - Self Care is the Best Healthcare:  http://hopeability.wordpress.com/self-care/

I am a member of the Minnesota Coaches Association (MCA), the MCA Greater Community Committee, the American Pain Foundation, The National Council on Independent Living, Brain Injury Association, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association, the American Cancer Society, Chrons and Colitis Foundation, and other organizations.

I serve on the Member Board for AXIS Healthcare, the Medica Accessibility Board, and the Qwest (Disability Solutions) Advisory Panel. I enjoy being a mentor for the Metropolitan Center for Independent Living Peer Mentor program. I participate at Independent Lifestyles, an independent living center. I recently joined the MN-CCD Healthcare Reform Committee. I am involved in the Organizing for America Health Care Reform movement. I also volunteer in a Mount Olivet Church Sunday School class for children with disabilities.

I was recently accepted into the Speaker’s Bureau at the Minnesota Brain Injury Association. In September 2009 I was honored to be nominated for the Courage Center Judd Jacobson Memorial Award for an entrepreneur with a disability. On September 30, 2009 I was invited to join the ARC Greater Twin Cities Abuse Prevention Steering Committee.

I’m applying to be a Delegate to the National Summit on Disability Policy in 2010. In 2008 I was elected as a Delegate to the Senate District 19 Endorsing Convention: www.sd19df.org.
